Tear down :
After the inspection, the next thing you have to do is take the entire game apart. The purpose obviously being to separate the big project into a bunch a small ones.
Mini Projects:
Cabinet:
- clean entire thing inside & out
- remove T-molding
- remove bad wiring
- remove back doors
- repair damage to exterior wood & prepare for paint
- paint all - black areas, base coat on sides, and side art (requires new stencils or templates)
Control Panel:
- strip old overlay off and clean off old adhesive
- repair damage
- replace T-nuts (blind nuts)
- clean (and paint if required) any metal parts
- apply new overlay
- repair or replace controls
- repair or replace wiring
- replace top molding
Marquee:
- repair lamp fixture
- by new or used marquee
Metal Parts:
- sandblast (glass bead) all metal parts to bare metal
- paint all parts including moldings, coin doors & frames, coin box lid & handle, hinges, carriage bolts, etc. (In this case, I had all of the parts powder coated.)
Monitor:
Game Boards:
- get a PCB mounting plate
- get a board set (and repair if needed)
Wiring:
- get a switch with mounting plate for the 'memory protect' switch mounted inside the coin door
- get a volume pot with bracket
- repair or replace all wiring
