Assault is one of those JAMMA games which requires two joysticks. This makes playing the game in a 'normal' machine (one with only a single joystick) all but impossible. An adapter which converts the signals of an individual 8-way joystick to that which is required by Assault will help..
The electronics consist essentially of only one GAL 20V8. Note: you will need a special GAL programmer to make this hack work.
The structure is not particularly complicated. Anyone who can make a conventional JAMMA adapter will not be overtaxed: -) The wiring of the GAL is included in the file "ASSAULT.DCB". All inputs of the IC (pin 4-9) must be connected to 4.7KOhm pull UP resistors.... And so we are ready...
