The usa2.zip contains all the files to run the auction pricing guide which was the last development project in the USA AUCTION GUIDE. It was intended to provide the user an acurate way to evaluate the pricing structure of used coin operated games. USA AUCTION GUIDE first started with a paper booklet that contained a analaysis of one auction per issue. We developed a program that ran on a HP95LX palmtop computer using a 4th generation data base language called Sculptor. WE spent almost a year developing the software to track each auction. Much of that time was spent rewriting the program to accomadate the speed at which things were sold and the order in which the data was entered. I personaly entered the data for each auction flying from city to city for nearly three years. I first tried to sell the booklets ( about 20-25 yearly ) for 10.00 each or 125.00 per year, then tried a faxing service after each auction for 95.00 per year, this proved to be very costly hence the software program you are about to look at was believed to be the answer. I planned to ship each customer a compiled updated version for each quarter of the year and did so for the 3rd year of the project. I believe I had under estimated how technicaly advanced the average operator was. The majority of operators did not have a computer let alone a fax machine. I was trying to sell the information to people 5-10 years behind the rest of world. The project costed 25,000 for programming and another 25,000 aproximatley for advertising, travel, and misc. expenses. I still have the checks from each customer that had sent in for a one year subscription and did not deposit them to this date ( aprox. 20 ) because I wanted to make sure we could provide the service for that term and wanted them to be satisfied. I was also unsure we could get enough customers to support the project. IT turned out I was right , it could not be supported under the way it was marketed. We recieved aproximatly 3,000 in three years of sales 2,000 of which were uncashed checks. The program you are about to see was written in foxpro 2.0 and designed to run on a slow 286 computer and still be very fast in its searching routines. It provides more than just pricing information. The field "TEST" for example is used to provide wiring compatibility information, I think you will find this of great intrest. Good luck and I hope you like the program.
