Function

The joystick potentiometers work by voltage division between -5V and +5V. Actually, it uses a couple of resistors on each side to make it more like -3.4V to 3.4V.

All voltages are taken with respect to ground

• Center = 0V on pin 6 (vertical) or pin 5 (horizontal)
• North = 3.4V on pin 6
• South = -3.4V on pin 6
• East = 3.4V on pin 5
• West = -3.4V on pin 5

The buttons are normally open type, and close circuits to ground when pressed.
